I met Darrell via a private message on Facebook. The first thing that stood out to me was how much he liked to type in uppercase letters. He was emphatic, expressive, and very honest. I liked him immediately. A mutual friend had recommended the Cheer Up Your Wife book to him which he promptly purchased. He had just finished reading it and wanted to make contact. The book was brand new, just released a week earlier, and his was the first feedback I had received. Naturally, I was eager to hear what he had to say. His first words to me were, “I CAN’T describe how POWERFUL this book is! I stopped watching basketball to keep reading it!” This was strong feedback coming from a man, especially in reference to a book about marriage. As time went on and our communication continued, I got to know him and realized just how incredibly significant those words were because anyone who knows Darrell knows how much of a sports fanatic he is. We continued our chats about marriage and relationships in general, and because he was so open and honest, I got to know him quite well. We communicated often, and then his relationship status took a new turn.

It was the morning of December 19th, 2013, exactly one year to the day that Darrell and I had first made contact. Ty woke up that morning with one resounding question lingering in her head, When? She desired to be married and she had been waiting for a long time to meet the right person, but there were no viable prospects in sight. She later recounted that for some reason she could not quite explain, that day her heart was filled with hope and expectation. Being a fan of my first book, Though The Vision Tarry (Waiting For My Promised Mate), when I posted a related comment that morning on Facebook, it caught her attention. She commented in response. Right below her comment, Darrell had also commented in response. His comment caught her attention. Well, I’m not sure if it was his comment or his profile picture that caught her attention or a combination of both. At any rate, her attention was caught. She asked me a question privately. Without her knowledge, I asked him a question privately. The next thing you know, he introduced himself to her, and in Ty’s own words, “The rest, as they say, is history!” They developed a friendship over the next year that developed into the kind of love that lasts a lifetime, and in March of 2015, they were joyfully married. Embarking on their new life together as husband and wife, RHINO FAITH became a recent addition to their now joint library. Three books and a marriage later, fully resourced for their relationship and faith journeys, they pursue new goals as a couple.
