The new polygamy movement

Hi all! I don't know if this very misguided movement is spreading all over the U.S. or not, but it is very prevalent in the Midwest, and Chicago in particular. There is a strange teaching out that is being pushed by some prominent African Americans that basically says that it is OK to have more than one wife. Obviously polygamy/bigamy is illegal in this country, but there are cases where the "2nd wife" is living in the home with the husband and his legal wife.

Why, it seems, we who are African Americans, who have suffered so much through slavery, Jim Crow society, and injustice in general on a daily basis sometimes, seem to gravitate towards all kinds of legalistic and enslaving modes of thought?

Now Susta' ... we TRULY DO live in some perilous times don't we??? 

Some quick thoughts ... 

First!!!  Ain't nuthin' NEW about this devil ... Amen?

During Biblical times (& even today in some cases), "Ancient Near East" society was an "agrarian" (agricultural) one.  This made them very dependant on large families, hence the whole Polygamy thang!!!.  BIIIG families (lots a babies) helped to ensure their survival ... THEN!!!

HOWEVER ... TODAY ... AS "CHRIST-FOLLOWERS"

We, The New Testament Church, are NOW  "Living Under HIS/GOD's Grace" ...

Sooooo ...

Polygamy, though a common practice in the Hebrew Bible (The O/T), is NOT condoned by God - for HIS Bride (The New Testament Church).  Huh ... in most cases ... waaaaay back in those O/T bible days, our Sword speaks of "concubines" too & not a one of 'um was free of SEVERE domestic turmoil.

Ya' know!  It Truly does take a village (of MORALLY sound adults) to raise a child ... AND ... KEEP  adults morally accountable!  If you are not taught "rightly" to understand & accept both WHO & WHOSE you are ... AND ... this is NOT affirmed by ADULTS who know & teach the  WEALTHY historical relevance of the African American, as a spiritually healthy community ought ... THEN ... the "devil" will creep within, speaking meniacle evils & them who  are the most vunerable WILL follow him!  The African American Family has literally been forced apart (since arriving in this country)! Yet a REMNANT - A STANDARD of HOPE has never left us! 

For GOD ... SAYS (through HIS Prophet Isaiah) !!!

Isaiah 59:19

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Dear Sister ... REST ... in knowing that God's plan is for one man - for one woman - for one lifetime (Gen. 2:18-24 and Mt. 19:4-6).  And be ever ready to be used, when HE calls!
