Under general supervision, provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where Secondary students have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Provides a block and lesson plan by which classes are conducted. May lead and functionally supervise teacher's aides or assistants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
2. Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
3. (Employs best practices and innovative strategies in the planning and implementation of a quality instructional program)
4. Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, inservice, retreats, open house, committee, faculty, and Parent Teacher Fellowship meetings.
5. Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
6. Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth. (i.e. Staff development and training.)
7. Perform any other duties, which may be assigned by the administration. Organizes and provides developmentally appropriate Secondary education programs; plans and implements curriculum and education for Secondary students.
8. Provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of students.
9. Plans and prepares classroom setting; oversees safety and educational programs; supervises students in the classroom; provides a supportive environment in which students can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
10. Interacts with parents and community groups; maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families, encouraging their involvement in the program and supporting the child's family relationships.
11. Writes and compiles individual assessments of each child's development; completes daily inventories, child attendance, and related reports.
12. Participates in teaching undergraduate and graduate Secondary education labs, as appropriate.
13. Participates in research programs concerned with improvements in Secondary teaching methods, as appropriate.
14. May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
15. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to school/state requirements.
16. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
17. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
18. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
19. May be required to sponsor extra curricular activities as assigned.
20. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Experience

Bachelor's degree in Elementary and/or Secondary Education discipline.
Texas State Certification in specialized teaching field required. Must also meet requirements to obtain ACSI certification within 60 days of employment.
