Singleness and the holiday season

I've noticed something very interesting.....Why is it for Valentine's Day, or the onset of the summer season, our society has an abundance of events geared towards singles, but during holiday seasons like Christmas and New Year's, this is not so. If anything, it seems singles can be cast as "ood men out" during this holiday season that strongly emphasizes family and togetherness. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this trend as well?
